Paula Vennells has been seen in public for the primary time after allegations that she could have been instructed a couple of “covert operations team” that would remotely entry the Horizon system and modify branches’ accounts two years earlier than she appeared in parliament.
Channel 4 News obtained a 2013 recording during which the Post Office’s chief lawyer Susan Crichton confirmed twice that Ms Vennells was conscious of the allegations, two years earlier than prosecutions had been halted towards subpostmasters.
The former Post Office boss denied to parliament in correspondence that distant entry was potential.
In footage printed on Sunday (7 April) Ms Vennells didn’t reply to a query from a Channel 4 reporter on the allegations.
The Post Office was approached for comment.
