FIRST ON FOX: Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., stated President Joe Biden’s “divisive” and “bizarre” State of the Union speech didn’t address key issues which can be vital to the American folks.

“I thought it was the most divisive State of the Union from the most out-of-touch president in American history. I thought it was bizarre,” Schmitt informed Fox News Digital in an unique interview after the speech.

The Republican senator added that the president “didn’t seriously address” unlawful immigration, a prime challenge for voters going into 2024.

Biden pointed to Congress for the continuing disaster on the southern border, repeatedly saying he’s ready on Congress to go the bipartisan border settlement earlier than taking any critical motion. Schmitt, agreeing with many Republicans, stated that Biden can safe the border now.

He added that it was “laughable” when the president prompt the U.S. is the most secure it has ever been beneath his administration.

“Ask people whose communities have been ravaged by gang violence and by fentanyl, and ask the families of those who have loved ones who’ve been murdered by illegal immigrants who have come across the border recently,” Schmitt stated of the president’s remark concerning crime. “We’re less safe, we’re less secure. We’re less prosperous under Joe Biden’s lack of leadership.”

Biden made a number of mentions of his “predecessor,” former President Donald Trump, during the speech, as he faces a possible 2020 common election rematch towards the previous president within the fall.

“This was like a campaign speech,” Schmitt stated, including that the president appeared “really divisive” and “over-the-top partisan.”
