Japanese artist Akira Toriyama, recognized for the vastly widespread Dragon Ball comics, has died on the age of 68.

Toriyama died on 1 March after struggling acute subdural hematoma, a kind of bleeding close to the mind, his studio stated on Friday.

“We are deeply saddened to tell you that Manga creator Akira Toriyama handed away on 1 March as a result of acute subdural hematoma,” stated an announcement shared on the official X account of the Dragon Ball franchise.

Another fan wrote: “Akira Toriyama gave us some of the most timeless anime moments of all time.”

“Heartbreaking that Toriyama passed before Dragon Ball Daima releases, which he was clearly so passionate about. If it’s the last project he worked on, I’ll treasure it even more,” stated one other.
