Killer ‘motivated by sex’ murdered ex and her new partner days after she reported him to police

An obsessive ex-boyfriend “executed” a mom of 4 and her new partner simply 4 days after she reported him to the police.

Marcus Osborne, 35, of Harpe Inge, Dalton, West Yorkshire has been sentenced to an entire life order at Leeds Crown Court for the homicide of his ex-partner Katie Higton and her new boyfriend Steven Harnett.

Ms Higton, 27, had informed West Yorkshire Police that she feared Osborne would significantly hurt or kill her, after he made repeated threats that he would homicide her if she received one other boyfriend.

Days later, he brutally stabbed her and Mr Harnett at her residence in Huddersfield on 15 May 2023, with each pronounced lifeless on the scene.

Osborne stated: “Romeo and Juliet can f***ing die together now” after the brutal double killing which left Ms Higton with 99 accidents and Mr Harnett with 24 wounds together with mutilated genitals.

Osborne had pleaded responsible to two counts of homicide and different offences.

At the time the homicide was reported, professionals had been holding an pressing assembly to talk about methods to shield Ms Higton and her 4 kids.

According to the chronology, she informed police Osborne had harm her and stated he would “slit mine and the children’s throats” if she informed anybody “what he was like”.

Following her demise, Ms Higton’s household and buddies paid tribute to her as “the best mum” and stated the household was “absolutely devastated” as they positioned flowers on behalf of her two eldest kids on the scene.

Her former brother-in-law, who requested not to be named, stated his brother had been in a relationship with mother-of-four Ms Higton for seven years and was the daddy of her two eldest kids, daughters aged 9 and 10.

He stated the kids “were in the property when the incident took place”.

He described Ms Higton as “bubbly, outgoing, fun” and “a great mum”.
