A 46-year-old man has been arrested after MP Mike Freer acquired a threatening phone call final week.
The Conservative minister introduced at first of this month that he’ll stand down on the subsequent normal election after a sequence of dying threats and an arson assault on his constituency workplace.
He stated that “by the skin of my teeth I avoided being murdered” by Ali Harbi Ali, who went on to kill Southend West MP Sir David Amess.
The Metropolitan Police stated it acquired a report from Mr Freer’s workplace on February 1 that he had acquired “an abusive and threatening phone call” the day gone by.
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of malicious communication and has been taken to a north London police station for questioning.
A separate investigation into an arson assault on the MP’s workplace in Finchley, north London, on Christmas Eve is ongoing, with a person and a girl charged with arson with intent to hazard life.
The two incidents usually are not being linked, police stated.
More follows.
