Hermes is going through legal action in California over claims it unlawfully permits solely prospects with “sufficient purchase history” with the corporate to purchase its Birkin purses.

Two California residents have alleged the French luxurious home is violating antitrust regulation by “tying” the sale of 1 merchandise to the acquisition of one other.

A proposed federal class-action lawsuit was filed on Tuesday in San Francisco.

“Typically, only those consumers who are deemed worthy of purchasing a Birkin handbag will be shown a Birkin handbag (in a private room),” the lawsuit claimed.

Hermes and attorneys for the plaintiffs didn’t instantly reply to Reuters’ requests for remark.
