LONGMONT, COLORADO. – Students and lecturers in Colorado are experimenting with artificial intelligence, or AI, in the classroom.
High school students in Longmont, Colorado, are studying easy methods to design their own AI mannequin tasks on the St. Vrain Valley School District Innovation Center. The program began this previous fall.
Mai Vu, the A.I. Program supervisor at St. Vrain Valley School District, mentioned the AI program’s aim is to show students easy methods to use AI to resolve real-world issues.
“It’s everywhere, from the music they listen to, Spotify, from what they are seeing on Netflix, but they just don’t know that AI is working in the background,” Vu mentioned.
Vu mentioned in her class, students learn the way AI algorithms work and the way they’re coded.
Any pupil can be a part of, and so they can take so long as they should end their tasks, in accordance with Vu.

“Today it [artificial intelligence] is very, very obvious and so people are understanding a little bit more clearly that: ‘Wow, this is something that is changing education, changing the workforce, I don’t really know a lot about it,'” Piinedo mentioned.
Students coming into the course first study AI fundamentals. Vu mentioned then students can start creating and monitoring their own AI tasks. Another instance of a pupil venture is a gaming app that teaches French.

Students mentioned they look ahead to studying extra about what AI can do.
“It does things that people spend hours to do in a small amount of time and I think that’s a really cool thing to work with as someone that is still in high school,” Buchanan mentioned.
