A robotic moon lander constructed by Houston-based firm Intuitive Machines has been efficiently launched by SpaceX from Florida.

The Nova-C Odysseus lander took off atop SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral in Florida at 6:10 am GMT.

Following the launch, SpaceX’s reusable Falcon 9 rocket’s first stage landed again – finishing the booster’s 18th launch and touchdown.

The Intuitive Machine mission, if profitable, might make it the primary private firm to land on the Moon, and would even be the primary US touchdown on the lunar floor since Nasa’s 1972 Apollo 17 mission.

IM’s mission can also be anticipated to offer insights into the Moon’s floor setting and assist pave the best way for SpaceX’s Human Landing System that Nasa hopes would put Artemis astronauts on the Moon.
