True crime drama Steeltown Murders has received three awards on the Bafta Cymru movie and TV awards ceremony.

The story of the UK’s largest hunt for a serial killer took finest tv drama, finest costume and finest director for Marc Evans.

BBC Radio 2’s Owain Wyn Evans hosted the gala occasion on the International Conference Centre Wales (ICCW) in Newport on Sunday night time, the place awards in 21 classes got.

Dr Who’s Ncuti Gatwa took the highest actor award whereas comic Rhod Gilbert received the presenter award for his most cancers documentary A Pain in Neck.

“It’s a bit of responsibility because it’s a true story,” Evans stated of Steeltown Murders.

“But then when you get into it and you’re working with the actors it’s about what we do together.”

Actor Philip Glenister, who starred within the programme, added: “It was a joy for me… to be trusted in a role like this.”

The Crown actor Mark Lewis Jones received the BAFTA Cymru Siân Phillips Award, which recognises a big contribution to the business.

“I was so moved by it hearing people [speak before the award],” he stated.

“It’s really special… a massive honour.”

It was an evening of glitz and glamour on the ICCW.

Bright flowers lined the purple carpet walked by brighter stars of the stage and display screen in Wales.

Guests talked about celebrating Welsh expertise and the way pretty it was to see faces they’ve labored with over time.

There had been smiles throughout and pleasant rivalry inside classes.
