Ofcom is investigating whether David Lammy’s show on LBC breached broadasting rules, the watchdog has mentioned.
The regulator mentioned it was probing whether the Labour frontbencher’s programme on 29 March “broke our rules on politicians acting as news presenters”, it mentioned on Monday.
Under the Broadcasting Code, information have to be introduced with due impartiality, which means that politicians can not act as a newsreader, information interviewer or information reporter with out distinctive editorial justification, in line with Ofcom.
As such, the regulator concluded final month that 5 programmes on GB News – that includes politicians appearing as information presenters – broke broadcasting due impartiality rules.
Days later, GB News broadcaster Darren Grimes was amongst these sharing a clip of Mr Lammy saying the breaking information on 29 March that Sir Jeffrey Donaldson had resigned as DUP chief after being charged with allegations of a historic nature.
Mr Grimes wrote: “Dear Ofcom, I assume you’ll be sanctioning them for this, as you did GB News.”
