CEO of company behind Sundance Film Festival stepping down

Joana Vicente is stepping down because the CEO of the Sundance Institute, the nonprofit behind the annual Sundance Film Festival, after two and a half years.

“She has been a true advocate for independent storytellers, and I know she will continue to positively impact this community,” stated Sundance Institute Board Chair Ebs Burnough in a press release launched Friday.

Vicente oversaw some of the Sundance Institute’s most difficult years throughout the pandemic, when the pageant went digital and later got here again as a hybrid model.

Amanda Kelso, a member of the board, has been appointed performing CEO, the group stated.

Kelso will transition into the position in April and Vicente will proceed to advise via June. She involves the place with 25 years of expertise in communications and expertise, together with serving because the managing director of Google Creative Lab.

“I believe in the power of Sundance and its ongoing impact in nurturing our mission-based work,” Kelso stated in a press release.
