Messi, the four-legged star of the Oscar-nominated Anatomy of a Fall, won’t be at Sunday’s Hollywood ceremony.
The Border Collie, who appeared alongside Sandra Hüller in Justine Triet’s crime thriller, made fairly a splash at February’s Oscar Nominees’ Luncheon when attendees, akin to Ryan Gosling and Billie Eilish, lined up to cuddle him.
“It’s crazy, I think he’s much more famous here than in France,” Triet, who’s up for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay on the 96th Academy Awards, mentioned on the time.
While Messi isn’t technically an Oscar nominee, his presence nonetheless appeared to irk a number of film firms which have titles in rivalry on the 2024 Oscars.
According to a supply who spoke to The Hollywood Reporter, a number of firms felt that Messi supplied Anatomy of a Fall an unfair benefit throughout the open voting window.
The Independent has contacted the Academy for remark.

In the movie, Daniel is caught within the center of a authorized battle and media spectacle as his mom, a German novelist performed by Hüller, is accused of murdering his father (Samuel Theis).
