TRUMP SAYS SUPREME COURT RULING IN COLORADO CASE IS ‘UNIFYING AND INSPIRATIONAL’

Colorado had argued Trump was disqualified from public workplace below the 14th Amendment for inciting an “insurrection” on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. However, the 9 justices held that Article 3 of the 14th Amendment, which bars former officeholders who “engaged in insurrection” from holding public workplace once more, can solely be enforced by Congress.

“We conclude that States may disqualify persons holding or attempting to hold state office. But States have no power under the Constitution to enforce Section 3 with respect to federal offices, especially the Presidency,” the courtroom wrote.
