The Chief Secretary of the Treasury, Laura Trott, appeared to falter over her reply about the degree of presidency debt when questioned on BBC Radio 4’s PM programme.
Host Evan Davis, who’s the BBC’s former economics editor, advised that authorities debt was projected to rise, and requested Ms Trott how that slot in with potential tax cuts.
She initially disagreed and stated debt was falling as a proportion of GDP (Gross Domestic Product), which Evan Davis countered by stating he was utilizing GDP figures, insisting that “this is really basic” and that he was amazed she didn’t know debt was rising.
