It is the most recent in a protracted line of Welsh our bodies dealing with questions on their governance and tradition, following latest high-profile scandals at the Welsh Rugby Union, Welsh-language broadcaster S4C, and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

Despite Hybu Cig Cymru saying they’d “take action” to resolve the problem, BBC Wales understands these actions weren’t shared with employees, with some feeling the matter had not been handled appropriately.

Phil Stocker, chief govt of the National Sheep Association mentioned: “I’m hearing all sorts of stories and allegations coming from Hybu Cig Cymru, and I’m concerned as to how levy-payers’ money is being used, and whether all this leads to HCC taking its eye off the ball.”

In an announcement, Hybu Cig Cymru mentioned it “must advise that it would not be proper for any HR matters to be discussed in public on the basis of anonymous sources”.

“Publication of such information will place Hybu Cig Cymru… at significant reputational risk,” it added.

“We do not comment on internal staff matters and therefore no further information will be provided.”
