Houthis rebels launch drone attack on British Navy ship HMS Diamond

A Royal Navy warship “successfully repelled” a drone attack by Houthi rebels within the Red Sea on Saturday, the defence secretary has introduced.

Grant Shapps says the UK stays “undaunted” after the attack by the Iran-backed insurgent group, saying the federal government’s dedication to defending harmless lives and the liberty of navigation was “absolutely unwavering”.

None of the crew had been injured and the HMS Diamond undamaged, the Ministry of Defence stated in a press release.

The MoD stated: “These intolerable and illegal attacks are completely unacceptable and it is our duty to protect the freedom of navigation in the Red Sea.

“We want to thank the brave crew of HMS Diamond for their service to defend British and international interests.”

The ship shot the drone down utilizing its personal defence system.
