New York City has invoked a curfew for migrants after residents complained about panhandling, stories say.

The curfew is from 11 p.m. to six a.m., the New York Post stories. Migrants staying at respite facilities should verify in, and curfews are just like these in place at homeless shelters within the metropolis. 

People residing close to migrant housing facilities have complained asylum seekers are begging door-to-door for meals and garments, in accordance with the New York Post. 

Migrant housing residents are being informed of the brand new guidelines on Monday, with Tuesday being the primary night time the City Hall directive is in impact.

“My constituents are terrified,” City Council member Joann Ariola informed FOX 5 New York. “They have people that they don’t know at their doorbell. They usually have a child with them. They have their telephone, their iPhone and on it, it says, in English, ‘I’m a migrant from Floyd Bennett Field, please give me money.’ It’s very, very concerning because at times, they find them on their property.”

Nearly 2,000 migrants being sheltered in a tent shelter at Floyd Bennett Field arrived at James Madison High School on Bedford Avenue, forcing college students to pivot to distant studying final week.

Mayor Eric Adams’ workplace stated the transfer was for security causes resulting from incoming storms and potential excessive winds. According to the New York Daily News, Adams informed reporters that it was being completed out of an “overabundance of caution.” 

Although Adams has been criticized for the relocation, he has just lately feuded with the federal authorities, pleading with the Biden administration for assist as migrants are bussed to his metropolis, and different sanctuary cities, nationwide.
