Meanwhile, the Border Patrol Union backed Abbott, saying he is enhancing operations, not harming them.

“His seizing management of Shelby Park permits our brokers to deploy to troubled spots that have excessive numbers of gotaways. Governor Abbott’s actions needs to be seen as a pressure multiplier,” National Border Patrol Council Brandon Judd said in a statement.
