Posting on X, previously Twitter, Raith mentioned the membership is in contact with the fan and can assist them privately.

It mentioned: “We have contacted the supporter to check on their wellbeing and to see how we can provide support in any way possible.

“The incident has been reported to the police and we are going to work with Dunfermline Athletic to determine the offenders.”

Dunfermline said it will work with authorities to support the fan and any supporters found to have taken part will be banned from East End Park.

A post on the club’s website adds: “The membership condemns all types of violence within the strongest doable means and we we are going to assist the authorities in figuring out any people concerned.”

Anyone who witnessed the assault has been urged to contact police through the non-emergency line, exterior.
